Changing Classes of Registration

The General class of registration authorizes a member to practise and bill for chiropractic services, perform controlled acts, and to represent themselves as a practising chiropractor.

If a member is intending to leave practice, they may change to the Inactive or Retired classes of registration. The Inactive and Retired classes of registration do not authorize a member to practise or bill for chiropractic services, perform controlled acts or represent themselves to the public as a practising chiropractor.  However, registrants in these classes do maintain membership with CCO for the purposes of receiving CCO mailings and voting in elections to Council.

The Inactive class of registration is intended for members who have left practice for a temporary period but intend to re-enter practice in the future. The retired class of registration is intended for members who have left practice permanently.

Renewal fees for each class of registration are stated in By-law 13: Fees and are as follows:

  • General (i.e., Active) $1100
  • Inactive $495
  • Retired $105

Members may change classes of registration during annual renewal from the end of October of each year. If you intend to change classes of registration mid-year, please contact Ms Madeline Cheng, Manager, Registration mcheng@cco.on.ca, 416-922-6355 ext. 113.

Please note, if you are out of the General (i.e., Active) class of registration for more than two years but less than  five years, or for more than five years, there will be regulatory requirements that apply before returning to the General class of registration.
