On August 26, 2021 (after President’s Message #17), the Ministry of Health released a new version of the COVID-19 Patient Screening Guidance Document
. This document has revised screening questions for patients to reflect the patient’s vaccination status and revised symptoms for screening for COVID-19. Signage for health care settings in English
have also been updated to reflect revised symptoms for screening for COVID-19.
Questions 5 and 6 of the revised patient screening guidance document are only to be asked if a patient has answered “No” to question 1 as part of the screening process (e.g., If a patient answered “Yes” that they received their final (or second) vaccination dose more than 14 days ago, the patient does not need to be asked if they have travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days. If a patient answered “No” to receiving their final (or second) vaccination, the patient does need to be asked if they have travelled outside of Canada in the past 14 days). As a reminder, patients should continue to be actively screened BEFORE attending in-person (e.g., by telephone or secure portal).
Members are encouraged to review and apply the revised screening questions and signage.
