I. Draft Proposed Amendments to By-laws and Documents for Distribution and Feedback
CCO is distributing several draft amendments to CCO by-laws and other documents for feedback. All feedback will be reviewed by the respective committees and CCO Council.

II. Approved Amendments to Standards of Practice, Policies and Guidelines
CCO Council has approved amendments to a number of standards of practice, policies and guidelines as reflected in the links below. These amendments came into effect on June 19, 2019.
Summary of Amendments
CCO Council approved amendments to CCO’s advertising standard of practice and guideline that:
- emphasize that advertisements must be clear, appropriate and maintain a professional image in communicating the delivery of safe, ethical chiropractic care;
- include materials and posters in a member’s office and advertising material produced by a third-party on behalf of a member under the definition of advertising;
- require that members clearly communicate that they are a registered chiropractor in Ontario and a member of CCO on a professional website and social media page;
- amend testimonial requirements to:
- include self-testimonials;
- include a disclaimer that a result for one patient may not be typical of all patients; and
- restrict the use of testimonials about treating a member’s own family.
- emphasize that a member may not pressure a patient to bring a family member or a guest to a subsequent treatment or appointment, as part of any communication to a patient or prospective patient.

Members should review their advertising material, including professional websites and social media pages, to ensure they are in compliance with the standards of practice and guideline. Advertising material should always be clear, appropriate, accurate, verifiable and maintain a professional image to the public.
Summary of Amendments
CCO Council approved amendments Policy P-010 to summarize and describe the legislative and regulatory requirements for the use of professional titles, designations and credentials by CCO members.
The public of Ontario has the right to be able to make an informed decision about their health care. Policy P-010 summarizes various legislative and regulatory requirements related to professional titles and specialty designations to ensure that the public is provided with clear and accurate information.
